Pirates to release Daniel Nava
The Pittsburgh Pirates are releasing outfielder Daniel Nava, reports SB Nation's Chris Cotillo.
In February, Nava signed with the Pirates as a free agent. He underwent back surgery under a month ago and was expected to be sidelined for 10-to-12 weeks. Prior to his release, Nava was in line to share the load in left field. That will be left to Corey Dickerson, and some combination of Jordan Luplow and Adam Frazier.
Nava hit .301 with 4 home runs and 21 RBI a year ago.
