Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique) won't be ready for Yankees on Opening Day

New York Yankees outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury (oblique) is not expected to be ready for Opening Day, manager Aaron Boone said on Monday.

What It Means:

Ellsbury is dealing with a right oblique strain that has sidelined him from Cactus League action since March 1. It sounds like the 34-year-old outfielder should be ready by the second or third week of the season. He projects to serve as the Yankees' primary backup to Aaron Hicks in center field this season.

As of now, numberFire's models project Ellsbury to bat .257 with 4 home runs, 30 RBI, 46 runs scored, and 15 steals in 354 plate appearances this season.
