The Oakland Athletics and free agent pitcher Trevor Cahill have an agreement on a 1-year contract, reports Jane Lee of MLB.com.
The deal is pending a physical but it sounds like the Athletics found their replacement for Jharel Cotton (UCL), who is undergoing Tommy John surgery and won't be back until 2019. Cahill returns to Oakland after being drafted by the organization back in 2006.
The 30-year-old right-hander recorded a 3.69 ERA in 11 starts with the San Diego Padres last season before being sent to the Kansas City Royals in a midseason trade.
