Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zack Greinke (groin) will not be ready for Opening Day, based on comments from manager Torey Lovullo.
"My mindset is to not have him play catch-up for one day during the season," said Lovullo. "We want to make sure he’s strong from Day 1 until the end of the season." Greinke exited Wednesday's start due to groin tightness but this doesn't sound like a long-term concern. Robbie Ray will probably get the nod for Arizona on Opening Day.
numberFire's models project Greinke to record a 3.30 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 22.5 strikeout percentage while going 14-9 across 199 1/3 innings this season.
