Blue Jays' Troy Tulowitzki (heel) ruled out for Opening Day
Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said shortstop Troy Tulowitzki will not play in the team's 2018 season opener.
Tulowitzki wasn't expected to be healthy in time, so this is just confirmation. The 33-year-old has been dealing with a chronic bone spur in his right heel. He has yet to run at full speed and there's no word on when he'll return. Yangervis Solarte and Aledmys Diaz will step into a starter's role at shortstop in his stead.
Tulowitzki played in just 66 games a year ago, slashing .249/.300/.378 with 7 home runs and 26 RBI.
