Neil Walker signing with Yankees pending a physical

The New York Yankees have signed second baseman Neil Walker to a one-year contract, pending a physical, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports.

What It Means:

Even after acquiring Brandon Drury from the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Yankees will get Walker to a reported $5 million contract for one season. It could be one of the better bargain signings of the offseason if Walker can stay healthy. He should be used primarily as a second baseman, but he could provide some depth at the corner infield spots as well.

Over 448 plate appearances in 2017, Walker produced a .265 batting average with 14 home runs, 59 runs scored, and 49 RBI.
