Tim Lincecum finalizes one-year deal with Rangers

The Texas Rangers signed pitcher Tim Lincecum to a one-year, $1 million contract.

What It Means:

This finalizes the deal that was agreed to last week. Lincecum hasn't been on a professional mound at any level since an ugly 2016 campaign with the Los Angeles Angels. He will work out of the bullpen and could potentially take over as the Rangers' closer. The 33-year-old right-hander has made 8 relief appearances over his 10-year career (278 games).

In 2016, Lincecum recorded a 9.16 ERA, 2.37 WHIP, and 16.0 strikeout percentage -- all career-worsts -- while going 2-6 across nine starts (38 1/3 innings).
