Mariners' Ben Gamel out 4-to-6 weeks with an oblique injury
Seattle Mariners outfielder Ben Gamel has been diagnosed with an oblique strain and is out for 4-to-6 weeks.
Gamel suffered the injury while taking cuts in the batting cage on Friday. An MRI on Sunday revealed the strain, which will sideline the expected starting left fielder out until mid-to-late April. Newly signed Ichiro Suzuki could platoon with Guillermo Heredia in left until Gamel is ready.
Gamel slashed .275/.322/.413 with 11 homers and 59 RBI in 550 plate appearances in 2017.
