Cleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar (shoulder) is doubtful to be ready to play by Opening Day.
Salazar suffered a strained rotator cuff during his off-season throwing program, setting him behind the rest of Cleveland's pitchers by at least two weeks. The oft-injured pitcher was able to pitch only 103 innings last season due to shoulder and elbow issues. His absence will likely give both Mike Clevinger and Josh Tomlin a spot in the rotation to start the year.
Salazar posted a 3.21 xFIP and 3.40 SIERA while striking out 33% of the batters (145) he faced over 103 innings last season.
