Indians sign Mike Napoli to minor league deal
According to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian, the Cleveland Indians have signed free agent Mike Napoli to a minor league contract.
After he passes his physical, Napoli will get a spring invite. There isn't a current spot open for him on the roster, with both Edwin Encarnacion and Yonder Alonso on board, but his veteran presence won't hurt anything and it provides him the chance for valuable at-bats heading into 2018.
In 2017, Napoli hit just .193 but with 29 home runs and 66 RBI in 124 games.
