Toronto's Brett Cecil suffers 'pretty significant' calf tear
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brett Cecil suffered a "pretty significant" tear of his left calf, Blue Jays' manager John Gibbons said after Friday's loss.
The blows just keep on coming for the Jays. They will head to Texas down 2-0 in the series after losing in extra innings Friday and will now likely be without one of their best relievers for a significant amount of time.
Cecil has been rock solid for Toronto the past two seasons, posting 2.51 and 2.39 xFIPs in 2014 and 2015, respectively. He posted a career-best 2.15 walk rate while fanning 11.6 per nine innings.
