The Washington Nationals have fired manager Matt Williams, according to James Wagner of the Washington Post.
Williams finishes out his second season with the Nationals with a record of 83-79, missing out on the playoffs by seven games.
The next manager will inherit a team with a cabinet that is far from bare. The Nationals finished ninth in our power rankings with a 0.44 nERD. They dealt with injuries the whole year, but the pitching staff had the fifth best xFIP while the offense was 14th in wRC+. The team could be primed for a nice bounce-back in 2016 despite the disappointment of 2015.
