Yankees' manager Joe Girardi will not return despite ALCS appearance
The New York Yankees and manager Joe Girardi have agreed to part ways, according to ESPN's David Kaplan.
Girardi's four-year, $16 million contract ended with this season so he's not really being let go nor is he resigning. The team says that an announcement will be made later on Thursday. There are no obvious candidates at this time but it's believed that general manager Brian Cashman will favor a candidate with "a good feel for the clubhouse."
Under Girardi's leadership, the Yankees have gone 910-710 in 10 seasons. They've made 6 postseason appearances, with a 2009 World Series victory. This season, the Yankees were a surprise contender, finished 4th in our power rankings and made it as far as Game 7 of the American League Championship Series before being eliminated by the Houston Astros.
