Stephen Strasburg will be Nationals' Game 1 starter on Friday

Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker announced that pitcher Stephen Strasburg will get the ball for Game 1 of the NLDS, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale.

What It Means:

With Max Scherzer (hamstring) still working back from a hamstring tweak, Strasburg is the obvious go-to guy in Game 1 against the Chicago Cubs. For Game 2, it remains to be seen whether Washington will go with Scherzer or Gio Gonzalez.

In 1 start against the Cubs this season, Strasburg went 7 innings, allowed 2 earned runs and struck out 13 as he got the win at home. The right-handed hurler is also coming off a very hot second half. He posted a 6-1 record with a 1.96 FIP and 10.91 strikeouts per 9 across 10 starts.
