Dominic Smith is sitting out as Mets host Braves
New York Mets first baseman Dominic Smith is not in the lineup on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves.
Smith has now sat out two of the last three games for the Mets, and it looks like he could be used sparingly over the final days of the season. After starting at catcher on Tuesday, Kevin Plawecki is at first base Wednesday and hitting fifth against lefty Sean Newcomb.
Our models project Smith for a .167 batting average over limited plate appearances remaining this season.
