Red Sox' Eduardo Nunez aggravates knee injury, avoids additional damage
Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Eduardo Nunez exited Monday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays after aggravating his right knee injury, but manager John Farrell said afterward that he avoided any additional damage.
Nunez tweaked the ailing knee when his cleat got caught in the dirt on a swing. He's expected to be held out of the remainder of the Blue Jays series for precautionary reasons, but the 30-year-old veteran should be fine. Nunez doubled and scored in his first plate appearance since September 9, but he wound up being pinch-hit for after lining out in his next time up.
In 114 games this season, Nunez is slashing .313/.341/.460 with 12 home runs, 58 RBI, 60 runs scored, and 24 steals across 491 plate appearances.
