Tigers' Mikie Mahtook (groin) expected to miss rest of season
Detroit Tigers outfielder Mikie Mahtook is dealing with a Grade 2 groin strain that will likely cost him the rest of the season, manager Brad Ausmus revealed Saturday.
It's likely a disappointing end to a great season for the 27-year-old outfielder. Andrew Romine, JaCoby Jones, and Alex Presley are in the outfield for Detroit in Sunday's series finale versus the Minnesota Twins.
If his 2017 is indeed done, Mahtook will finish with a .276/.330/.457 slash across 379 plate appearances (109 games) while turning in 12 home runs, 38 RBI, 50 runs scored and 6 stolen bases.
