Oakland Athletics second baseman Joey Wendle is in the lineup and starting at second Wednesday against the Detroit Tigers.
As Ryon Healy operates from the bench on Wednesday, Jed Lowrie will be the team's designated hitter, leaving second base duties to Wendle. Facing righty Anibal Sanchez, the 27-year-old hits eighth for Oakland.
Wendle costs just $2,000 and is part of an A's lineup that ranks second with an implied total of 5.16 runs on the early slate.
