Luis Severino scheduled to start on Wednesday for Yankees
New York Yankees pitcher Luis Severino will start Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins instead of Masahiro Tanaka.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi said the rotation change will allow Severino to make three starts down the stretch, rather than two, if necessary. Tanaka was originally lined up to start Wednesday, but he'll likely be pushed back to Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Severino is 13-6 in 29 starts this season with a 2.93 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 29.2 strikeout percentage across 184 1/3 innings.
numberFire's models project Severino to record a 3.46 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 16 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings over the remainder of the season.
