Martin Prado

Marlins' Martin Prado (knee) might not return in 2017

The Miami Marlins are not counting on injured third/second baseman Martin Prado to return to the team this season.

What It Means:

On July 28th, Prado underwent arthroscopic knee surgery due to a severe sprain of his right knee. At the time, it was believed to be a season-ending surgery for the 33-year-old, but he has begun baseball activities with an eye to return. Unfortunately, his rehab was slowed by Hurricane Irma, so the belief is that Prado might not be back this season. That leaves Derek Dietrich and Brian Anderson to man third for Miami.

While battling knee and hamstring injuries, Prado has produced just 2 home runs on a .279 wOBA through 37 games and 147 plate appearances this season. He's projected for 2 hits in 8 at-bats the rest of the year.
