Cubs activate Addison Russell (foot) from DL

The Chicago Cubs have activated shortstop Addison Russell from the club's 10-day disabled list.

What It Means:

Russell has been out since early August while dealing with a plantar fasciitis issue in his right foot. The Cubs are expected to ease him back into action so he's not in today's lineup nor is he likely to start this weekend. He'll also be limited and rested down the stretch as the Cubs eye the playoffs.

With 10 home runs and a .306 wOBA on the year, Russell is projected for just 1 home run, 2 RBI and a .235 average over 18 plate appearances the rest of the year.
