Cubs' Addison Russell (foot) to go through one more workout before activation
Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell (foot) will go through one more workout Saturday before being activated from the disabled list.
Russell said on Friday that he's game-ready following a successful workout on Thursday, but the Cubs want to make sure after he didn't complete a rehab assignment. The 23-year-old shortstop last played on August 2 due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Over 97 games (348 plate appearances) this season, Russell has posted a .241/.305/.417 slash with 10 home runs, 36 RBI, and 46 runs scored. numberFire's models project him to record a .250 batting average in 22 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
