Jake Marisnick sidelined for Astros next 6-8 weeks
Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick was diagnosed with a fractured right thumb and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks after surgery Friday.
Marisnick injured his thumb in the third inning on Wednesday while sliding into second base. With the 26-year-old outfielder done for the year, Derek Fisher and Cameron Maybin figure to see more playing time as the Astros prepare for the postseason.
Marisnick will finish the regular season with a .246/.323/.504 slash and .815 OPS while recording 16 home runs, 35 RBI, 50 runs scored, and 9 steals across 253 plate appearances (100 games).
