Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is not starting on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies.
With their postseason hopes dashed, the Marlins will let their star slugger rest. Tyler Moore will start in right field while Stanton sits versus Jake Thompson and the Phillies. He's slashing .279/.375/.636 with 54 home runs, 113 RBI, and 111 runs scored in 143 games this season.
Over the remainder of the year, numberFire's models project Stanton to turn in a .274 batting average with 4 home runs, 12 RBI, and 10 runs scored in 73 more plate appearances.
