Giants' Mark Melancon (forearm) undergoes surgery on Tuesday
San Francisco Giants pitcher Mark Melancon underwent surgery to repair the pronator muscle in his right forearm on Tuesday, per NBC Sports' Alex Pavlovic.
Melancon has had a few stints on the disabled list this season and tried to pitch through this injury before being shut down for the season. His recovery time is set for just six-to-eight weeks so that gives Melancon a lot of time to re-gear for next season. Sam Dyson will continue to close for the last-place Giants down the stretch.
In 32 appearances, the 32-year-old Melancon produced a 1-2 record with 11 saves, 5 holds and a 3.22 FIP in 2017.
