Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Carlos Rodon was placed on the 10-day disabled list with inflammation in his left shoulder.
The injury will force an early end to the season for the 24-year-old left-hander, who was limited to just 12 starts this season after getting a late start to the season due to bursitis in his left biceps. Rodon was scratched from a scheduled start against the Cleveland Indians last Thursday after feeling stiffness in his left shoulder before the game.
Rodon went 5-2 in those 12 starts while twirling a 4.15 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 25.6 strikeout percentage across 69 1/3 innings.
