Cardinals' Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) to run bases Saturday
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) will run the bases on Saturday.
The Cardinals would like to use Gyorko as a pinch-hitter as soon as he feels comfortable running to first base, where he could always be replaced by a pinch-runner. He's been out since August 27 with a right hamstring strain, and it remains to be seen when the 28-year-old infielder will return to St. Louis' starting lineup.
Gyorko is slashing .272/.341/.469 with a .809 OPS this season while recording 18 home runs and 64 RBI over 449 plate appearances (114 games).
