Max Scherzer (calf) ready for Friday return to Nationals' rotation
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (calf) is scheduled to start Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Scherzer was hit by a comebacker in his left calf over the weekend, but after a pain-free Wednesday bullpen session, the 33-year-old ace right-hander is ready to toe the rubber Friday versus the Phillies. He's gone 13-5 in 26 starts this season while twirling a 2.19 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and 35.0 strikeout percentage (K%) across 172 1/3 innings.
Over the remainder of the year, numberFire's models project Scherzer to record a 3.01 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 26.1 K% across 30 more innings.
