Matt Carpenter (shoulder) absent from Cardinals' lineup Tuesday night
St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter is out of Tuesday's lineup with shoulder tendinitis.
Carpenter also missed two games over the weekend. He recently admitted it's an injury he's dealt with for most of the season. Jose Martinez will get the start at first base, while Alex Mejia will get the nod at third.
Carpenter is hitting .239/.374/.433 with 75 runs and 18 home runs over 548 plate appearances this season. It's unclear how much time he will miss with this injury.
