Alex Mejia playing third in Cardinals' Tuesday lineup
St. Louis Cardinals shortstop/third baseman Alex Mejia is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's road tilt against the San Diego Padres.
Matt Carpenter, the Cardinals' everyday third baseman, left yesterday's game with tendinitis in his right shoulder. He's out tonight after getting an MRI earlier today. Mejia will then get the start in his place and bat eighth against the Padres' Travis Wood.
Mejia has gotten just 19 plate appearances at the big league level this season, but he did produce 4 home runs, 33 RBI and a .374 at Triple-A Memphis this season. He's a capable hitter but, at $2,000, he's projected for only 4.6 FanDuel points on tonight's slate.
