Braves trade Brandon Phillips to Angels
The Los Angeles Angeles Angels have acquired infielder Brandon Phillips from the Atlanta Braves.
Phillips was a late scratch from the Braves lineup on Thursday, leading to speculation that he was being dealt just before the midnight deadline. According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, the Braves will receive minor league catcher Tony Sanchez in return for Phillips. The move concludes a busy day for the Halos, who sent Cameron Maybin to Houston and added Justin Upton from Detroit earlier in the day.
Our models project Phillips for a .740 OPS with a pair of homers in 112 plate appearances remaining this season.
