Blue Jays' J.A. Happ claimed, pulled back from waivers
Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ was claimed and blocked on waivers, according to FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman.
While there was a chance that Happ's $13 million salary would allow him to pass through waivers, contending teams' need for good left-handed pitching was just too much. This is the second time that the Blue Jays have been forced to take back a pitcher after being claimed and blocked in the waiver process.
At 34 years old, Happ has gone 6-10 with a 4.03 FIP and 1.9 WAR in 20 starts this season. He's projected for a 2-1 record and 12 earned runs over 25-plus innings the rest of the way with Toronto.
