Baltimore Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy will probably be activated between Friday and Monday, according to manager Buck Showalter.
On the shelf since mid-June with a fractured wrist, Hardy was expected back roughly 10 days ago, but he's still going through his rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk. There, he's accounted for a .414 wOBA with one home run and three RBI in seven games. But that success won't result in a starting job with Tim Beckham taking over at shortstop and thriving at the plate.
Upon a healthy return, our algorithms project Hardy for 1 home run, 2 doubles and 4 RBI in 44 plate appearances the rest of the way.
