Royals' Danny Duffy charged with DUI on Sunday

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Sunday evening, according to Sports Radio 810 WHB.

What It Means:

The incident occurred following the Royals' loss to the Cleveland Indians and Duffy is scheduled for arraignment on September 19. Little else is available at this time. The 28-year-old left-hander landed on Kansas City's disabled list over the weekend for a low-grade pronator strain.

In 21 starts this season, Duffy has gone 8-8 with a 3.78 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 21.4 strikeout percentage (K%) across 131 innings. Without knowing his health status or possible legal ramifications, numberFire's models project the southpaw to twirl a 4.34 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 19.8 K% over 22 2/3 remaining innings in 2017.
