New York Mets outfielder Travis Taijeron is making his major league debut on Saturday against the Washington Nationals.
With so many injuries in the New York outfield -- the most recently to Yoenis Cespedes (hamstring) -- the Mets were forced to purchase Taijeron's contract on Saturday. The 28-year-old is making his first start in right field and will hit seventh against starter Gio Gonzalez.
With a .392 wOBA and 25 home runs at Triple-A Las Vegas, Taijeron will have to make an impact if the Mets want to win today's game. They are big underdogs against Gonzalez and their 3.32 implied runs are the lowest of the afternoon slate.
