San Diego Padres second baseman Yangervis Solarte is not starting on Friday against the Miami Marlins.
After going 3-for-5 with a home run and a pair of doubles as part of 6-RBI performance on Tuesday, Solarte has gone 0-for-8 at the plate with a walk. He will get a breather in tonight's series opener against left-hander Adam Conley and the Marlins. Carlos Asuaje will make another start at second base while Wil Myers gets the nod at first for San Diego.
Solarte is slashing .263/.336/.429 with 15 home runs and 53 RBI in 378 plate appearances (94 games) this season. numberFire's models project him to record a .278 batting average with 3 home runs, 13 RBI, and 13 runs scored in 108 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
