Lance McCullers (back) to make rehab start Friday for Astros

Houston Astros starting pitcher Lance McCullers (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Fresno on Friday.

What It Means:

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said McCullers turned in a "really good" bullpen session Tuesday, and he's expected to go 4-5 innings in tonight's outing. The 23-year-old right-hander will likely require at least one more rehab start before rejoining Houston's rotation. He's been out since July 30 with a back injury.

McCullers owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 26.0 strikeout percentage over 105 2/3 innings with a 7-3 record (19 starts) this season.
