Max Scherzer (neck) says he won't pitch for Nationals on Friday
Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer (neck) won't return on Friday for a start against the New York Mets.
Scherzer admitted to being behind where he wants to be with his recovery, so he's going to miss at least one more start. The 33-year-old ace right-hander has been out since August 13 due to tightness in his neck. Matt Grace will start for the Nationals on Friday at home in the series opener with the Mets.
Scherzer owns a 2.25 ERA (2nd in the majors), 0.85 WHIP (1st), and 35.7 strikeout percentage (2nd) in 160 1/3 innings this season while going 12-5 across 24 starts.
