Cardinals' Adam Wainwright (elbow) lands on the disabled list
The St. Louis Cardinals placed starting pitcher Adam Wainwright on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow impingement.
Wainwright was sent back to St. Louis Friday to get his elbow looked at a little further. We should know more about a timeline by Saturday, but Mike Mayers will take over Wainwright's spot in the rotation while the veteran is out.
Wainwright has not been himself in 2017, with a 5.12 ERA, 1.49 WHIP, and 4.33 xFIP over 121.1 innings pitched. The ERA and WHIP are both career-worst marks for the 35 year-old.
