The lefty-swinging Smith is taking a seat on the bench as the Mets face southpaw Justin Nicolino and the Miami Marlins on Friday. Wilmer Flores will start at first.
Our models project Smith for a .174 batting average in just 25 plate appearances the rest of the season.
