Royals place Joakim Soria (oblique) on DL
Kansas City Royals pitcher Joakim Soria has been placed on the team's 10-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.
It was first reported that Soria was dealing with a sore back after getting knocked around by the Oakland Athletics in his last outing. But it looks like an oblique for the 33-year-old, who will first be eligible to return on August 26th. Until then, Brandon Maurer will man the Royals' eighth-inning role.
numberFire's models project Soria for a 3.40 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 5 strikeouts across 5-plus innings of work the rest of the way.
