Chicago Cubs catcher Alex Avila is not starting on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Avila will grab a seat on the bench after going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and 3 RBI on Thursday. Victor Caratini will catch Jake Arrieta and bat sixth versus Blue Jays southpaw J.A. Happ in Friday's series opener.
