Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber is not starting on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ben Zobrist will be in left field while Ian Happ mans second in Friday's series opener against left-hander J.A. Happ and the Blue Jays. Schwarber, currently on a four-game hit streak, is 20-for-125 (.160) with 58 strikeouts (40.0 percent) versus southpaws for his career.
For the season, Schwarber is slashing a disappointing .204/.321/.442 with 20 home runs, 40 RBI, and 48 runs scored with a 30.7 strikeout percentage in 374 plate appearances (98 games). numberFire's models project him to record a .226 batting average with 5 home runs, 16 RBI, and 14 runs scored in 124 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
