Trevor Rosenthal (elbow) placed on the 10-day DL by St. Louis
The St. Louis Cardinals placed relief pitcher Trevor Rosenthal on the 10-day disabled list with right elbow irritation.
Rosenthal suffered some velocity drop and was pulled from a save opportunity on Wednesday. After an exam by team doctors, the elbow irritation was discovered. There is no timetable for the closer's return. Expect Seung Hwan Oh to receive the bulk of the save opportunities while Rosenthal is sidelined. Luke Weaver was called up from Triple-A in a corresponding move.
Since July 25, Rosenthal has gone 7-for-7 in save chances with a 1.69 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings pitched.
