Luke Voit falls out of Cardinals' lineup as they travel to Pittsburgh
St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Luke Voit is not in Thursday's lineup against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Voit went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in his first career start at designated hitter in Wednesday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. However, playing without a DH in tonight's road opener against the Pirates, the Cardinals will send the 26-year-old rookie to the bench. Right-hander Adam Wainwright will bat ninth for St. Louis in a matchup with Pittsburgh righty Jameson Taillon.
Voit has gone 22-for-84 (.262) with 3 home runs, 13 RBI, and 17 runs scored through the first 40 games of his big league career. numberFire's models project him to turn in a .241 batting average with 1 homer, 4 RBI, and 3 runs in only 32 plate appearances over the remainder of the year.
