Cubs' Jon Lester leaves Thursday's start with injury

Chicago Cubs pitcher Jon Lester left Thursday's game against the Reds alongside a trainer, according to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan.

What It Means:

After pitching a scoreless first, Lester allowed eight runs (seven earned) on a walk and second hits in the top of the second frame in Chicago. He then signaled for a trainer and removed himself from the game. There is no word as to the injury itself or the severity of it. Mike Montgomery replaced the Cubs' starter on Thursday afternoon.

With 8 wins and a 3.69 FIP on the year, when healthy, we project Lester for 4 more wins and 49 strikeouts in 52-plus innings the rest of the season.
