Clayton Kershaw (back) could begin rehab assignment Monday for Dodgers

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (back) will throw in either a simulated game or a minor-league rehab outing on Monday, reports J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News.

What It Means:

Whether it's simulated or live remains to be determined, but what's known is Kershaw will throw three innings and 45 pitches on Monday as he continues to progress through rehab for a lower back strain. The injury took place on July 23.

Kershaw has been spectacular this season, with a 2.04 ERA, 2.91 SIERA, 31.1 percent strikeout rate, 4.4 percent walk rate and 0.88 WHIP across 141 1/3 innings. He owns a 15-2 record in 21 starts.
