Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton clears revocable waivers
Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton cleared revocable waivers on Sunday, according to Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan.
With his $295 million contract, it's no surprise to see Stanton pass through waivers unclaimed. Now that he has, though, he is now eligible to be traded to any team this month. Passan says that at least four teams spoke to the Marlins about their slugger prior to the deadline, but nothing came of it. Ownership could now at least plant a seed or two in preparation for an offseason move.
Stanton's 43 dingers are 7 more than the next-closest player this season. That along, with his 93 RBI and .413 wOBA, make Stanton's 3.73 nERD the eighth-best mark among all batters.
