Toronot Blue Jays pitcher Marco Estrada will pitch in place of Mark Buehrle against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, with Buehrle bumping his start back to Monday.
This gives Buehrle, the veteran southpaw, an additional day of rest.
Estrada has been a revelation for the Jays this season, registering a 3.16 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 107 strikeouts over 142 1/3 innings. His peripherals, however, tell a different story. He's benefitting from a lowly .229 batting average on balls in play and a 77 percent strand rate. His FIP of 4.21, which takes everything into account, shows an average pitcher.
