Astros acquire Tyler Clippard from White Sox
The Houston Astros acquired reliever Tyler Clippard from the Chicago White Sox for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Clippard will be available out of the Astros' bullpen for Monday's series opener in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. He twirled a 1.80 ERA over 10 innings for the White Sox after being acquired from the New York Yankees in July. The 32-year-old right-hander will work in a setup role for Houston ahead of closer Ken Giles.
numberFire's models project Clippard to turn in a 3.70 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 24.2 strikeout percentage across 14 2/3 innings for the remainder of the year.
